Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 18, 2026

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information Kaireo collects, how we use it, and what choices you have.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in to Kaireo with Google or with your email and a one-time code, we collect your name, email address, and (if you provide one) your phone number.

Event registration. When you register for a free event, we collect your name and email address so the organizer can confirm your attendance. This information is shared with the organizer of that event.

Submitting an event. If you submit an event, we collect the information you provide, including organizer name, contact details, and event content.

Browsing the site. When you visit kaireo.ca, we automatically collect basic technical information: pages viewed, anonymized IP address, browser type, device type, referrer, and the time of your visit. Analytics are only captured if you have accepted them (see below).

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

  • run your account and confirm event registrations,
  • send transactional emails such as registration confirmations and event reminders,
  • send the weekly digest of curated events if you have opted in,
  • respond to your questions and coordinate with organizers, and
  • run and improve the site.

We never sell your data.

Email preferences

Transactional emails (registration confirmations, event reminders, account changes) are part of using Kaireo and cannot be turned off while you have an active account or registration.

The weekly digest of curated events is optional. You can enable or disable it at any time in your account settings, or by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any digest email.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it. Analytics are only captured if you have accepted them. If you decline, no analytics events are recorded. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not share data with advertisers.

Cookies and local storage

Kaireo uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, and remember your cookie consent choice. If you accept analytics, our analytics provider may also store a session identifier in your browser to group your pageviews. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changing your mind

You can change your analytics choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent stops all future analytics capture.

Service providers

Kaireo relies on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, and analytics. These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms. They are located in the United States, which means your personal information is transferred outside Québec.

If you would like the list of providers we currently use, write to privacy@kaireo.ca.

How long we keep your information

  • Account data: kept for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
  • Event registrations: kept for the lifetime of the event and a reasonable period afterwards for organizer records.
  • Email correspondence: kept as long as the conversation is useful, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: anonymous and aggregated, retained in line with our analytics provider configuration.

Your rights under Quebec law

Under Quebec's Law 25 and Canadian privacy legislation, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you,
  • have it corrected if it is inaccurate,
  • withdraw your consent at any time, and
  • request its deletion or portability, subject to legal exceptions.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@kaireo.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

Person responsible for personal information

The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Kaireo is reachable at privacy@kaireo.ca.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access.

Children

Kaireo is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, write to privacy@kaireo.ca and we will delete it.
